Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office

BCI criminal history checks are available through the office for $22. The background checks page explains the process. Fingerprint services transfer to BCI for processing. Under ORC 2935, deputies have the authority to serve warrants anywhere in the county.

When a warrant exists in a case, the docket entries will show it. You can see when it was issued and whether it has been served. Ohio's public records law under ORC 149.43 makes most court records available to anyone.

Cuyahoga County Court System

Cuyahoga County has one of the most complex court systems in the state. Four Courts of Common Pleas operate here. The General Division handles felony criminal cases. The Domestic Relations Court deals with family law matters. The Juvenile Court covers cases involving minors. The Probate Court handles estates, guardianships, and name changes. Each division can issue warrants related to its cases.

Thirteen Municipal Courts serve different parts of the county. These courts are in Bedford, Berea, Cleveland, Cleveland Heights, East Cleveland, Euclid, Garfield Heights, Lakewood, Lyndhurst, Parma, Rocky River, Shaker Heights, and South Euclid. Each one handles misdemeanor cases and issues bench warrants for failures to appear. Under ORC 2933, all of these courts must find probable cause before issuing arrest warrants.

On top of all that, 30 Mayor's Courts operate in smaller communities throughout the county. These courts issue warrants for traffic and minor criminal cases.

Cuyahoga Corrections and Jail Records

The Cuyahoga County Corrections Center runs two locations: Downtown and Euclid, both near West 3rd Street and West Lakeside. Call (216) 698-2847 or (216) 698-2848 for information. There is no publicly accessible inmate roster online for Cuyahoga County. You need to call or visit to check on someone's custody status.
